Hugh has over 35 years of experience in Public Safety, Emergency Management, and Law Enforcement. He served in various positions, including Sergeant and Commanding Officer of The Field Support Unit of The New York City Sheriff's Office. A unit that he formed from the ground up. During his career, Hugh was a certified police instructor and implemented several training programs for both recruited and tenured deputy sheriffs. These programs are still in use today.
In addition, He was detailed to The New York City Office of Emergency Management for over ten years, where he served in the position of Supervisor and Communications Coordinator. He responded to, and coordinated large-scale planned and unplanned events and emergencies throughout The City of New York. Including such high-profile events as the attacks of 9/11, The "Miracle on The Hudson," The Times Square New Year's Eve Celebrations, and many others.
Hugh is also a former Emergency Medical Technician, and certified as a Fire Fighter in New York and New Jersey. He holds various certifications from The International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, The United States Department of Homeland Security, and The Federal Emergency Management Agency. He has collaborated with several prominent healthcare providers on safety, security, and emergency management issues.
He has been certified as an instructor by The American Red Cross, The National Safety Council, The American Safety and Health Institute (HSI), American CPR, and The STOP THE BLEED Organization. He is qualified to instruct Response to Active Shooter, CPR, AED, First Aid, Advanced Bleeding Control, Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens, Use and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors, Use and Administration of Naloxone, and Childcare and Babysitting Safety, and many other programs.
In addition, Hugh provides expert consulting services to businesses, schools, religious institutions, healthcare facilities, civic/community organizations, and government agencies regarding emergency preparedness, risk assessment, continuity of operations, emergency management, and mitigation.
